Capitol Hill, Monrovia Liberia: – Nimba County Electoral District#9 Representative Johnson N. Gwaikolo has submitted to plenary for its consideration a Bill entitled “An Act to Provide for the Creation of Gbi Doru Statutory District, within Lower Nimba County, Republic of Liberia.”
Gbi Doru was created in 1964 by an act of the National Legislature as an Administrative District to function and carry out all administrative and political activities in the interest of its inhabitants.
According to the Nimba County lawmaker over the years, Gbi Doru has grown in a population which has resulted into identification of local governance structures for better administration of the District.
He says in order to provide effective National and local Government oversight, it may be prudent to modify the administrative structure by transforming Gbi Doru Administrative District into Statutory District; something he stated that in that regard, the Bill to Provide for the Creation of the Gbi Doru Statutory District, within Lower Nimba County, Republic of Liberia is proffered for subsequent passage by the Honorable House of Representatives.
Following the first reading of the bill by the deputy Chief Clerk J. Sayfurh Geplay Tuesday, during the 2nd day sitting of the 3rd quarter of the 5th session, a motion was proffered to forward the instrument to the following committees; Internal Affairs, Good Governance, Ways Means & Finance and Judiciary to review and report to plenary.
