GOMPA, NIMBA COUNTY: – The administration of the Liberia National Police (LNP) along with key partners including the Ministry of Finance Development Planning and the Civil Service Agency ended three days retreat in Gompa, Nimba County.
The gathering was aimed at developing a roadmap in addressing some of the challenges police officers in Liberia, especially those assigned in rural parts of the country are faced with.
The presence of police officers in every part of the country, better salary structure, housing facilities and logistics were key amongst several thematic points discussed.
Speaking to Voice of Gompa (VOG) a local community radio station in Nimba, the Acting Chief of Public Affairs of the Liberia National Police, and Atty Kilor Gbanyah said the retreat was held under the auspices of the Policy Management Board of LNP, which aids the Liberia National Police in their day-to-day activities with regards to its administrative instructions, regulations and the police Act.
Above all, major conversations at the retreat were basically focused on strategizing ways to motivate Police officers in leeward counties to professionally discharge their duties.
He assured the public of fully implementing every decision reached at the retreat after the budget year.
According to him, they want to ensure their officers are given the necessary supports that will enable them provide professional policing across the country.
He used the medium to call on other police officers who are involved in acts that contravene the police Act including collection of bribes to immediately desist or face the full weight of the law.
