Zwedru City, Grand Gedeh, Liberia: —September 5, 2024 — In a decisive press conference held at his home office, Grand Gedeh County Superintendent Hon. Alex Chersia Grant addressed allegations of illegal financial withdrawals from the county coffers, firmly denying any such actions. Superintendent Grant’s remarks came in response to recent rumors and accusations circulating within the community.

During the press briefing, Supt. Grant emphasized that since his appointment to the position, he has not withdrawn any funds from the county’s treasury. His statement was aimed at clarifying the situation and restoring public confidence in his administration.

Grant also provided a comprehensive update on his recent activities and the strides made in his tenure. He shared details of his one-month visit to Liberia’s capital, Monrovia, where he participated in various governmental programs designed to bolster both county and national development.

Election of New Leadership: Supt. Grant reported on the successful election of Madam Rotha Gama as Vice President of the Grand Gedeh Chiefs and Elders Council during a training held in Ganta. He also mentioned upcoming changes in the leadership of the Grand Gedeh County Sports Association (GGSA) in preparation for the forthcoming National County Meet.

Community Radio Station Update: Addressing the issue of the Smile FM Community Radio Station, Supt. Grant announced the expiration of the previous board’s term and the appointment of a new ad-hoc committee led by Mr. Gaye Farlo. This committee will oversee the station’s affairs and organize elections for a new board.

Tourism Coordination: In line with the government’s AAREST agenda, Supt. Grant appointed Mr. Bob Belay as the County’s tourism coordinator. He expressed his commitment to working collaboratively with Belay to advance tourism as a key sector for local development.

Monthly Clean-Up Campaign: Grant introduced a new initiative, designating the last Thursday of every month from 8:00 am to 10:00 am for a county-wide clean-up campaign. He urged all residents to participate actively in this effort to maintain a cleaner and healthier environment.
