Yolopa ,Bong County Liberia – Tension is said to be mounting amongst traditional people of Bong County Electoral District One in Yolopa and Nimba Electoral District Nine in Beinghana after three sons of Beinghana were being allegedly arrested by the Bong County Poro society and their whereabout is yet to be established.
According to reports gathered by Nimba D-9TV correspondent who was on the scene in Beinghana Nimba County, the “Gboan” society which is one of the very powerful societies in Nimba members had gone to Yolopa in Bong County to address their society issue, but Poro Society of Bong County in Yolopa got involved with the Nimba Society leading to the arrest of three of its members with Menlor Paye of Beinghana being seriously beaten and he is seeking traditional medication in Beinghana.
The head of Nimba Chiefs and Elder Peter Barloun including Nimba County Inspector B. Mack Gblinwon are said to be heading to Beinghana in Nimba County on Tuesday as youths in that part of Liberia continue to demand the immediate release of their members.
Our correspondent said local leaders of the two counties are doing all they can in restoring calm whilst Prof. Johnson N. Gwaikolo Representative Nimba Electoral District Nine and Hon. Albert Hills of Bong County Electoral District One are calling for calm.
Both counties have several commonalities including inter-marriage and language .
