SANNIQUELLIE- The chief policy crafter of Nimba’s 8th electoral division is admonishing President Dr. George Manneh Weah to prioritize the county as he (Weah) finds replacement for Chief Justice, Cllr. Francis S. Korkpor whose services at the Supreme Court ends this September 2022.
Constitutionally, the Chief Justice has hit the age bar of 70 and is now unarguably qualified for retirement.
Ahead of his retirement, Cllr Korkpor was honored at the weekend for his valuable contributions to the Judicial Sector of Liberia in Sanniquellie, Nimba County Political Capital.
The honoring ceremony was organized by the Nimba Bar Association (NBA), the 8th Judicial Circuit Court including other well-wishers.
Cllr J. Iwei Vankan, President of the Nimba Bar Association while speaking at the event said the program was organized to show their appreciation to the Chief Justice for his role played in revamping the Judicial Sector.
They named the construction of judicial complex in Sanniquellie, court houses across the country and his exemplary leadership as some of the reasons for honoring him.
In a two minute remark at the honoring program of Cllr Korkpor on Sunday in Sanniquellie, Hon. Larry P. Younquoi who represents the home district of the Chief Justice said, as the Liberian leader contemplates on who replaces Korkpor, the Nimba Legislative Caucus is unanimously hoping that the county will be prioritized.
According to Rep. Younquoi, he is very proud to represent a district that has produced Chief Justice of Liberia with an impeccable character.
He maintained that the legacies set by Justice Korkpor cannot be easily eroded and or set by anyone.
Providing reasons for his call, Representative Younquoi revealed that Nimba is demographically and politically sensitive and important in Liberia which can and should not be left unrepresented at such strategic platform of the government.
He further informed the gathering that they, as leaders of the county especially lawmakers, are watching the Weah-Taylor’s Government with keen attention throughout this process and at the same time consulting with several people to ensure that the County’s population which is its strength and power cannot be overlooked.
In conclusion, Hon Younquoi thanked the Nimba Bar Association and partners, as well as Nimbaians for bestowing such unique honor upon the people of district#8.
