Beinghana Nimba Liberia: – Liberia People’s Party Standard Bearer Cllr Tiawan Saye Gongloe, his Vice Standard Bearer Dr Emmanuel K Urey Yarkpawolo, Former Nimba County Superintendent Edith Gongloe Weh including Former Governance Commissioner Yarsu Weh-Dorliea and entourage over the weekend crossed over for the first time from Bong County to Nimba County using a ferry built by Liberian Engineers with funding from Nimba County Electoral District Nine Representative Prof. Johnson N. Gwaikolo.
Amidst a jubilant crowd, citizens of Yarwin Mehnsonnoh Statutory District turn out in their numbers to welcome and endorse the candidacy of Cllr Gongloe who is a son of Yarwin for the October 2023 elections.
Cllr Gongloe sets record as first Liberian Presidential Candidate to have used the ferry since it was built about a year ago giving more hope to travellers including business owners etc.
Accounting for the successes of the economic values and growths of Nimba County Electoral District Nine, LPP Vice Standard Bearer Dr. Yarkpawolo account that, the people of the district are industrious counting far back when some white people were mapping Liberia.
“Remember Former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf named Zekepa as the proposed Capital City of Liberia. That statement will come to pass even faster if Cllr Tiawan Saye Gongloe is elected as President on the ticket of LPP comes October 10, 2023, and we are extremely excited about your warmest welcome. You are all real wonderful and hard-working people”.
He further stated that the white people said, “When we crossed the St. John River to the other side, we saw industrious, hardworking people and yes indeed you people are. I have that documentary”.
Cllr. Gongloe who was endorsed by different groups of citizens accepted the endorsement and called on all to note that Liberia lacks leadership at the moment which is why the country is where it is now and is time to get the “Broom Revolution” to work in cleaning the system to get Liberia back on track.
He equally used the occasion to thank Former Nimba County Superintendent Edith Gongloe Weh who was being called by many to contest, but she gave all her ego in supporting him.
Nimba County Electoral District Nine Representative Prof. Johnson N Gwaikolo and citizens saw the need to build a ferry as a way of reducing the risk of deaths by canoe capsize that was periodically taking the lives of citizens in search of livelihood.
‘’It can be recalled that Liberia Integrity Icon Emmanuel Toloe lost his father at the St. John River crossing here in Beinghana and he was buried here as per our tradition and elder accounts’’.
Though the ferry has not been officially dedicated yet, it is now providing more easy access to Bong, Nimba, Rivercess, Sinoe, Grand Gedeh, River Gee, Bong, and Maryland Counties.
According to Prof. Gwaikolo, the cost of this ferry as works are still ongoing is now estimated at around US$60,000.
“I am extremely excited that our citizens are no longer finding it very difficult to travel to and fro Bong to Nimba and other counties because of this ferry. Unlike before we will go around round to Ganta, Saclepea before entering the district with our vehicles but it has change for the benefit of all. As we continue to enjoy the collectiveness of our wonderful and development-loving citizens of the district near and far, more will be happened that will place Nimba County Electoral District Nine amongst the top economic boosting districts of Nimba. Many people and which is not false have said our district is bush but today, the light is shining one at a time as we now see Beinghana parking in Redlight and vehicles line-up in Zekepa daily in transporting goods and service”.
He further mentioned that you can leave from Zekepa, go to Monrovia transact and return to Zekepa the same day including other parts of the district all because of easy access to vehicles, etc.
