Liberia: – ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML) has reaffirmed its dedication to empowering Liberian talent while spotlighting the remarkable success story of Patience Today.
The mining giant celebrated Toddy’s journey from a young intern to her current role as Strategic Resourcing Supervisor in the company’s Supply Chain Management Department.
Patience joined AML in 2019 through the Young Professionals Program (YPP), an initiative to give young college graduates opportunities to develop their skills and advance in their careers.
Reflecting on her journey, Tody shared her gratitude and the challenges she overcame during her early days at the company.
“Working with AML has been a great privilege, and it cannot be taken for granted. When I began as an intern in 2019, it was challenging, and fear almost overcame me, but I had to work harder and put in extra hours.”
“I focused on enriching my experience, which helped build my confidence, and today I can proudly say that I feel blessed, honored, and elated to stand among vibrant and great men in the mining sector and contribute meaningfully,” Tody said.
AML praised Tody’s dedication, resilience, and passion for growth and described her as a shining example of the company’s commitment to supporting the development of Liberian professionals.
“We’re beyond excited to see the amazing things she’ll achieve in the years to come,” AML wrote on its Facebook page.
The Young Professionals Program is one of several initiatives ArcelorMittal Liberia has implemented to empower local talent.
In addition to offering internships, the company provides scholarships and training programs, which seek to ensure that Liberians are equipped to lead in critical sectors like business, mining, and supply chain management.
Tody’s story is a testament to the impact of these initiatives.
Starting as a motivated intern, she has risen to play a key role in AML’s operations, contributing significantly to the company’s success and the mining sector in Liberia.
Through programs like YPP and success stories like Tody’s, AML continues to demonstrate how investing in Liberian talent is intrinsic to its business and its vision for the nation’s development.
ArcelorMittal Liberia’s comprehensive training programs are shaping the future of Liberia’s economy and workforce by equipping Liberians with critical skills to thrive in the mining industry and beyond.
The company is creating a pool of highly skilled professionals who can drive industrial growth through initiatives like the Advanced Academic Studies program, vocational training for heavy machinery operations, and apprenticeships in engineering and mining disciplines.
These programs fill the immediate talent gap within ArcelorMittal’s operations and empower participants to contribute to broader economic activities, fostering entrepreneurship and innovation.
By prioritizing local talent development, ArcelorMittal Liberia is laying a sustainable foundation for the country’s human resource capacity. This ensures that Liberia’s young population can harness opportunities in key sectors, thereby boosting national economic resilience and competitiveness.
