Nimba County, Liberia: – The Nimba County Health Team and partners have officially dedicated modern medical waste management facilities at the Saclepea Comprehensive Health Center and the Loguatuo Clinic, marking a major step forward in improving healthcare safety and environmental protection in the county.
For many years, both health facilities faced serious challenges in the safe processing and disposal of medical waste. The lack of proper systems raised concerns about the health and safety of medical workers, patients, and nearby communities.
With the completion of the new facilities, Saclepea Comprehensive Health Center and Loguatuo Clinic will now benefit from modern and standardized waste management systems. These upgraded systems are designed to ensure that medical waste is handled, treated, and disposed of safely, significantly reducing health risks and environmental hazards.
Health authorities say the new facilities will strengthen infection prevention and control efforts while improving overall sanitation within the healthcare centers.
The project was funded by the French Development Agency with support from Action Against Hunger, whose partnership continues to play a key role in strengthening Liberia’s healthcare infrastructure and promoting safer medical practices in rural communities.
The dedication of these facilities represents an important milestone in Nimba County’s ongoing efforts to improve healthcare services and protect public health.
