Nimba County, Liberia:- We, the members of the Nimba Council of Elders thank the great people of Nimba and the Elections Commission for their conduct of peaceful, credible, free and fair by-election and congratulate the winner, Honorable Nya D. Twanyen, Jr. for his preferment by his people.
As this by-election has come and gone, we re-affirm our commitment to the principles of consensus building and virtues that bind our people and sustain their peaceful coexistence for thousands of years. We are proud and gratified that you, the Nimba people gave deference to the call of the Elders.
We therefore, call on all our citizens both winners and losers to remind them of the need to focus on the greater gain and benefits we, as a people, accrue and the experience learnt from this senatorial by-election.
The Council being cognizant of its functions as the platform for promoting the cultural, historical, and political conscience of Nimba County, guiding the collective conscience of Nimba citizens in the pursuit of our collective rights; recalls and reminds our citizens and political leaders to build consensus in decision making processes and uphold the virtues that bind us as a unique people. Let us continue to pursue unity in our diversity.
