Meet Richard Saye Mehnpaine, Assistant Commissioner of Immigration,Nimba Detachment, Liberia

currently stationed at the Nimba Detachment. With over a decade of experience in various roles within immigration enforcement, Mehnpaine is a seasoned professional known for his unwavering work ethic and keen attention to detail, making him a confident decision-maker even in high-pressure situations.

In his current role, Mehnpaine has demonstrated exemplary leadership during critical times such as the Ebola outbreak in 2014, where he led a team of immigration officers in Lofa, Foyah District, to reinforce border security measures. His responsibilities include conducting surveillance on suspicious immigration activities, collaborating with law enforcement agencies to combat illegal activities, and providing accurate and timely data for legal proceedings.

Mehnpaine oversees a team of 22 immigration workers, ensuring the monitoring of visa expirations and taking appropriate actions when necessary. He also plays a vital role in reporting crimes committed by both legal and illegal immigrants, as well as citizens, contributing to the maintenance of law and order within the jurisdiction.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mehnpaine works closely with health authorities to enforce regulations and safeguard public health. Additionally, he is committed to maintaining the integrity and security of Liberia’s immigration system by detecting and deterring fraudulent activities.

Throughout his career, Mehnpaine has exhibited exceptional communication skills, both orally and in writing, enabling effective collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders. He demonstrates the ability to take charge of demanding situations while adhering strictly to government policies and regulations. Whether working independently or as part of a team, Mehnpaine’s professionalism and work ethic remain unmatched.

Mehnpaine holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration with a minor in Sociology, reflecting his understanding of administrative and social dynamics. Additionally, he has completed basic immigration training at the Liberia National Police Training Academy, further enhancing his expertise in immigration enforcement.

With a proven track record of excellence spanning multiple counties in Liberia, including Bomi, Bong, Lofa, and currently Nimba, Mehnpaine continues to serve with dedication and distinction as Assistant Commissioner of Immigration.
