Pleebo City, Maryland County – In a groundbreaking move aimed at transforming local infrastructure, Representative Anthony F. Williams, in partnership with the Ministry of Public Works, has officially launched the rehabilitation of 34 kilometers of critical feeder roads in Pleebo City. This ambitious project is poised to significantly enhance access, mobility, and economic opportunities for the residents of Pleebo and the wider Maryland County, particularly in the southeastern region of Liberia.
Key Benefits of the Road Rehabilitation Project:
Improved Transportation and Access: The new and improved roads will drastically enhance transportation for local residents, providing smoother and faster travel across Pleebo City and surrounding areas. The feeder roads will link previously hard-to-reach villages and neighborhoods, enabling better access to markets, educational institutions, healthcare services, and government offices.
Economic Growth and Job Creation: The improved road network will facilitate the movement of goods and services, encouraging local businesses to expand and attract new investments. Farmers will be able to transport produce more efficiently, boosting the agricultural sector. Additionally, the construction and rehabilitation efforts will generate job opportunities for local workers, contributing to both short-term and long-term economic growth in the region.
Enhanced Community Well-being: The road project will directly improve the quality of life for Pleebo residents. Easier access to healthcare and education will empower local communities, particularly in rural areas, by reducing travel times and improving service delivery. Citizens will also experience enhanced social integration, as the project will strengthen connections between diverse neighborhoods.
Support for Regional Integration: The project will play a crucial role in improving the connectivity of Maryland County with the rest of the southeastern region of Liberia. Better road infrastructure will facilitate more efficient trade and transport within and beyond the county, supporting regional integration and national development.
Strengthening Government–Community Collaboration: The groundbreaking ceremony, attended by local officials, youth leaders, and community heads from both Muslim and Christian communities, highlighted the strong collaboration between government representatives and local citizens. Mayor Larry G. Geekor commended Hon. Williams for his efforts to improve the district’s infrastructure and for directly contributing to the well-being of the people of Pleebo.
District Coordinator Mr. Standford Neufville, a key partner in the initiative, emphasized the transformative potential of this road rehabilitation, noting that it will “bring relief to the people of Pleebo and Maryland County as a whole.”
This project represents a vital step toward bridging infrastructure gaps in Liberia’s southeastern regions, and with the support of local leaders and citizens, it promises to lay the foundation for further development in the coming years.
