Open Letter to H.E. President Joseph N. Boakai, President of the Republic of Liberia

Ernest Doitoe

Dear Mr. President,

I appreciate your commitment to addressing our beloved nation’s challenges as outlined in your recent State of the Nation Address. However, I must express my deep concern regarding the critical issues of poor health conditions and the lack of safety for Liberian citizens, which remain pressing threats to our development and well-being.

The state of healthcare in Liberia continues to be a significant concern. Many citizens lack access to essential medical services, leading to preventable illnesses and unnecessary suffering. Our healthcare facilities, often under-resourced and understaffed, struggle to meet the needs of the population. I urge your administration to prioritize investments in healthcare infrastructure, ensuring every citizen has access to quality care. Initiatives such as strengthening our primary healthcare system, improving the training of healthcare professionals, and providing essential medicines can make a substantial difference.

Furthermore, the safety of Liberian citizens must be a top priority. Instances of crime and violence have left many communities feeling vulnerable. The lack of adequate security measures affects citizens’ daily lives and hinders economic growth and social cohesion. I call on your administration to enhance the capacity of our law enforcement agencies, promote community policing, and foster partnerships between citizens and the police to create safer environments.

In addition, I would like to request a clear update on the progress of the Access Recovery Team. What measures have been implemented to ensure that government property is being restored effectively? The public must understand the steps being taken to recover and maintain our national assets.

Moreover, I would appreciate insight into your government’s progress in addressing the issues surrounding earth equipment and the operational challenges faced by our transportation sector. Transparency and accountability are essential for restoring public trust and ensuring efficient service delivery.

In conclusion, while I acknowledge the strides being made in various sectors, addressing health and safety is imperative for the overall progress of our nation. Together, we must advocate for policies and programs that prioritize the well-being and security of every Liberian.

Thank you for your attention to these important issues. I look forward to concrete steps taken to improve the health and safety of our citizens and to updates on the recovery and operational challenges mentioned.

Sincerely,

Ernest S. Doitoe
