Kpowin, Zehnla Nimba County Liberia: – Market women of Zehnla Nimba County Electoral District Nine over the weekend exalt and gown the wife of Nimba County Electoral District Nine Mrs. Gifty Gwaikolo and her husband Rep. Johnson N. Gwaikolo in Kpowin Town Nimba County Liberia West Africa.
“Since the end the of the Liberian Civil war 2003, this is the first time to see our district representative and his wife who are every time together working in solving some of our many challenges we are faced with as a district and peace. These couples beyond being leaders respect everyone and willing to listen to everyone. We the women mainly business women gather here today to honor and gown Mrs. Gifty Gwaikolo for she and her husband many developmental activities major of all happens to be the Ferry at the St. John River in Beinghana that has not just reduce the many difficulties we used to be faced with but has lower the risk of canoe capsize which took away many of our children’s lives” Lovetee from Sendein Tropea told the Media.
Kpowin is one of the traditional towns out of the 78 towns comprising Nimba County Electoral District Nine with five Administrative Districts, namely: Blinlon, Doe, Gbi&Doru, Mehnsonnoh and Zehnla respectively.
Nimba County Electoral District Nine has five administrative districts and is also bordering five counties namely: Bong, Grand Bassa, Rivercess, Sinoe and Grand Gedeh Counties.
Citizens including stakeholders who attended the women ceremony were seen under very heavy down pulled of rain alongside the women marching, dancing and at the same time calling on all other women and citizens of the district to join them in re-electing the husband of Mrs. Gifty Gwaikolo Prof. Johnson N. Gwaikolo who is seeking for re-election comes October 10,2023.
The women speaking at the gowning and honoring ceremony accounts of the many developmental activities implemented by Rep. Gwaikolo since 2018 but not limited to the following as explained by a mother;
“There is a saying which is true that behind every successful man there is a hard and caring wife. This is exactly why it is good for a leader to have a wife. Madame Gifty Gwaikolo has proven that as seen with what we have in six years with COVID-19 and other global challenges.
- we have observed and continue to enjoy peace across the district
- we have not unlike before observe the many challenges with rape, murder etc.
- we see the ferry which has made it easy in transporting our goods and services from the district to Monrovia and other parts of Liberia through which our kids can go to school etc.
- we see many market buildings some completed and others undergoing constructions
- our children are on scholarships as many have graduated and helping in our schools, health sector etc.
- job employments with the company in Blinlon, clinics built in Blinlon, constructions of schools and building of bridges through oversights and lobbied
- we have Zekepa Health Center in the National Budget
- our roads rehabilitation is ongoing
- our district now has for the first time a Representative Office
- we have radio station and as we speak
- there are many orange towels constructions ongoing across the district for example in Mehnla, Doumpa and many to follow according to info we have gather and we already have Lonestar receivers across all the major towns here in Nimba County Electoral District Nine’’-A mother from Zehnla excitingly told Nimba D-9 TV
Some of the citizens who turnout for the ceremony spoke with Nimba D-9 TV and below are the reactions.
“I am David Benzukeh, one of the chiefs from Blinlon but has come to be a part of this honoring event. Rep Johnson N Gwaikolo has already won the elections and we are just waiting for his inauguration”
“I am the Paramount Chief of Zehnla and as you see the turnout today, you must be aware that victory is sure for CDC George M. Weah and Representative Gwaikolo comes October 10,2023. You can see the very huge turnout and these are real voters who walked from other communities to be a part of this great honoring program by our mothers. We are thankful to our mothers for truly see the facts of how Rep Gwaikolo has been conducting the affairs of the district for which they honored his wife today and calling on everyone to re-elect him.”
Madame Gifty Gwaikolo who was totally surprised by this honoring told the women of Zehnla and Nimba County Electoral District Nine at large thanks and caution them that, this has equally given them more strength to do more in the coming years.
“Imagine we didn’t pay you to do this but you rather took your hard-earned monies to gown and honor us, we are grateful”-Said Madame Gwaikolo.
Rep. Gwaikolo on the other hand with smiles told the women and citizens who came from all across the district that, we are grateful as a family and as a district. This gowning and honoring ceremony represents truly all that you yourselves outline above and even beyond. The fact that you are with us as always, we will together continue to make Nimba County Electoral District Nine a place that we called home and I am asking everyone to be peaceful as we go through these elections. Avoid all forms of violence etc.
For his part, Crusaders for Gwaikolo Media Consultant D Livingstone Garziah thanked the women of Nimba County Electoral District at large for their recognition of the many community developments undertaken by Mrs. Gwaikolo and her husband Rep Gwaikolo and he also used the occasion to call on all citizens in staying away from violence during this process.
“As we travel across the district, all we see is citizens appreciation for the many communities’ development, though as usual there are some concerns from citizens but Rep Gwaikolo will always acknowledge them with respect to their collective efforts. I can say we are not really campaigning but rather reaching out as we started campaigning since 2018 and the results are what you seeing today”
The One Nimba House Media Inc (Nimba D-9 TV) has observed so far that, Nimba County Electoral District Nine has not reported any form of Electoral Violence unlike Nimba County District Seven, Four and Three were media reports have it that someone was allegedly killed in district four while in district three another was beaten and now undergoing medical treatment in Monrovia etc.
