Breaking News: Smile FM Community Radio Shut Down by Grand Gedeh County Authorities Amid Public Outcry

Zwedru, Liberia: – In the early hours of today, Smile FM, Grand Gedeh County’s oldest community-owned radio station, was forcibly shut down by loyalists of Superintendent Alex Grant. The closure, which occurred at 3 AM, followed widespread public condemnation of Grant’s decision to dissolve the station’s governing board. Station manager Solo Lewis described the situation as an “attack,” adding that staffers were threatened and forced to flee.
