Press Statement for Immediate Release By: Adonis D. Menlor, July 20, 2025, Nimba County, Liberia

Adonis David Menlor

Fellow Partisans, Citizens of Nimba County, and Esteemed Members of the Press,

Warm greetings to all, and heartfelt congratulations to every Liberian as we prepare to celebrate the 178th Independence Day of our beloved country.

For more than eight years, I have stood with the Unity Party, not for recognition, not for position, and certainly not for applause. My commitment stems from a deep belief in the core values this party upholds: unity, accountability, inclusive development, and a shared vision for a better Liberia.

In 2017, during a critical moment in our campaign, I donated 1,000 gallons of fuel to ensure our standard bearer, Amb. Joseph Nyuma Boakai and his team could continue engaging with the people across the country. That donation was received directly by Amb. Boakai, Hon. Wilmot Paye, and the late Senator Geraldine Doe-Sheriff. I made that contribution wholeheartedly, driven by trust in our collective direction.

Later, when Amb. Boakai boldly selected Senator Jeremiah Koung as his running mate. I further supported the campaign with an additional 1,250 gallons of fuel, received by Mr. Edwin Korden, to strengthen our outreach across Liberia.

During the 2023 elections, I provided a vehicle for campaign use, supplied fuel throughout the campaign period, and contributed yet another 1,000 gallons of fuel, all in steadfast support of the Unity Party’s mission and momentum.

My support did not end at the polls. When President Boakai visited Nimba County for matters related to the ArcelorMittal investment, I again contributed petroleum products to the joint security forces to ensure a peaceful and successful presidential presence.

As we approach this year’s Independence Day celebrations, my contributions continue, ranging from 20 plastic chairs for community use, assorted stationery, full sponsorship for three students in the Business Department this semester, and a contribution of L$100,000 toward a youth empowerment initiative designed to inspire innovation and action among young people.

These efforts were made in good faith, expecting nothing in return. I have always believed in service with sincerity and giving where it counts most.

However, I must now speak candidly.

It is troubling to observe that the Nimba County Administration continues to award goods and services contracts under the Economic Empowerment and Social Development Fund to a single source. This approach excludes many competent individuals and institutions, people who have stood with the party through thick and thin, offering their resources, time, and commitment.

No single person or group should monopolize opportunities intended to empower an entire county. Development must be inclusive. Participation must be fair.

I do not seek favors. I ask for fairness. I do not demand rewards. I call for transparency and inclusion.

Those of us who have sacrificed over the years deserve more than a passing mention; we deserve a voice, a role, and a seat at the table, not only during election seasons but throughout the continuous process of national development.

Let this statement not be misunderstood as a complaint, but rather a timely reminder, a call for a return to the founding principles of the Unity Party: principles of inclusion, fairness, and shared growth.

I remain loyal to the Unity Party and to the vision of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai. I will continue to serve Liberia with unwavering dedication, wherever I am called.

But today, I rise for what is right.

Today, I stand for equity.

Thank you.

God bless Nimba County.

God bless the Unity Party.

And may God bless the Republic of Liberia.

Signed:
