Gbarnga City, Bong County, Liberia – As Help Minimize Epilepsy in Liberia (HMEL) prepares for its major outreach event in Diallah Town, Nimba County Electoral District 9, a significant endorsement has come from Bong County Superintendent, Madame Loleyah Hawa Norris, who has accepted an invitation to participate in the campaign.
Her acceptance is in collaboration with HMEL’s international partner, Network for Bridging Social Gap for Young Women Corp (Susufit Foundation), based in Canada.
In a heartfelt remark, Superintendent Norris expressed her personal connection to the cause:
“I am very happy to come in contact with you all, the Campaigners from HMEL, because my family was hard hit by this condition. Because of the misunderstanding, many people wrongly believe epilepsy is contagious, but medically, it is not,” she stated.
Superintendent Norris further praised Madame Kou Meapeh Gono, Superintendent of Superintendents in Liberia, who also serves as a Lead Campaigner for the epilepsy awareness movement.
“Even if you all had not invited me, I would have joined this cause because of Madame Gono’s leadership and passion for this campaign,” she emphasized.
The campaign, themed “Break the Silence, End the Shame, Epilepsy is Treatable”, continues to gather momentum as it seeks to change public perception, reduce stigma, and improve support for people living with epilepsy across Liberia.
