Ganta, Nimba – On June 13, 2022, the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) launched a Nationwide Anti-Corruption Education and Awareness Campaign in Gompa City, Nimba County.
The aim of the Campaign according to LACC Program Manager Mr. James K. Kingsley, is to create awareness on corruption and how to do away with corruption.
According to Mr Kingsley, the Nationwide Campaign will be held in three cities in Nimba County namely; Ganta, Saclepea and Sanniquellie respectively.
“Interestingly, Nimba County is very large, so we will have this awareness in three cities, Ganta, Saclepea and Sanniquellie.
“We are not leaving anyone behind, we will make sure that the message about corruption reaches everybody”, Mr. Kingsley noted.
For his part, the Executive Chairman for LACC Cllr. Edwin Kla Martin cautioned young people and every Liberians to join the fight against Corruption.
According to Cllr Edwin Kla Martin, the fight against corruption should not be LACC alone but all Liberians should join the fight.
Cllr. Kla Martin also used the occasion to called on every Liberians to report any act of corruption.
The program brought together over one hundred participants from different institutions.
Those organizations and institutions who formed part of the campaign include Local Government, Liberia National Police, Liberia Immigration Service, Marketing Association, Teacher Association, Students’s Union, Drivers’ Union among others.
Making separate remarks, leaders of the various organization praised the LACC for such a Nationwide Campaign and called on fellow Liberians to do away with corruption.
The Campaign was followed by questions and answers from participants.
Key among official in the program were, Gompa City Mayor Mr Amos G. Suah, Head of the Motorcyclist Union Mr Henry Poe, Federation of Liberian Youth, Nimba Chapter Mr Abraham Alpha, Rev. Q. Thompson Yormie, of the Gompa Christian Community, Sidiki D. Sanoe of the Muslim Community among others.
The Nationwide Campaign is been held under the theme “Promoting Integrity and Accountability for Increased Citizens’ Participation in the fight against Corruption”.
